Stars and moon nursery wallpaper: a night sky that grows
For a stars and moon nursery, start with Stars (small gray stars on white), Moon and bunny nursery (rabbits on crescent moons in soft gray) or Watercolor solar system (smiling planets on warm gray). Clouds, Neutral Nursery Cloud, Bunny nursery and Vintage Air Balloons suit a second wall or a softer room. A 9-foot accent wall on an 8-foot ceiling takes four 108-inch panels, $480 for our kids' designs. Order a $15 sample of each finalist first.
1. A night sky that grows with your child.
A night sky is one of the few nursery themes that still makes sense when your child starts school. Stars and moons suit a baby’s room and the bedtime routine, and they carry on into a big-kid bedroom without looking babyish.
- Gray and white for the crib wall. Soft gray designs stay calm to look at from the crib.
- Planets for a toddler. A solar system gives a curious child something to name.
- Paper one wall. A starry crib wall with plain paint elsewhere keeps a small room light.
Every design here works for any baby, and all of them come from our kids’ collections.
2. Stars, moons and planets.
These three are the night sky itself, from quiet to playful. Our star and moon nursery wallpaper page puts them side by side.
- Stars: small gray stars scattered evenly across white. From across the room it reads almost as a light texture, so it lasts long after any one theme.
- Moon and bunny nursery: rabbits resting on crescent moons with stars, in soft gray and white. The most nursery-like of the three.
- Watercolor solar system: smiling planets and stars in a loose watercolor solar system on warm gray. A friendly take on space for toddlers and the early school years.
For rockets, planets and dinosaurs by age, see our dinosaur and space wallpaper guide.
3. Clouds and softer companions.
For a second wall, a reading nook or a room where the sky belongs in the bedding instead:
- Clouds: rounded white clouds drifting across a soft gray ground. It shares a palette with the Stars design and the Moon and bunny nursery design.
- Neutral Nursery Cloud: watercolor clouds in warm beige and olive tones, for a warmer room with wood furniture.
- Bunny nursery: black-and-white woodland rabbits with small botanical motifs, beside a moon and bunny wall. Our woodland nursery guide has more bunnies.
- Vintage Air Balloons: watercolor hot air balloons drifting among clouds in soft pink and beige, a daytime sky for the same room.
For clouds on their own, see the cloud nursery wallpaper guide. For a tight room where a small repeat matters most, see the small nursery guide. For one wall a baby and an older sibling can share, see the shared kids’ room guide.
4. Plan the wall and the panels.
Every kids’ design comes in 30-inch-wide panels in nine heights, priced $90 to $180 per panel. Divide the wall width by 30 and round up for the panel count. Add 4 inches to the wall height for trim and alignment, then choose the shortest panel height that covers it.
| Wall | Panels across | Panel height | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| 9 ft wide, 8 ft high (108 × 96 in) | 108 ÷ 30 = 3.6, so 4 | 108 in | 4 × $120 = $480 |
| 12 ft wide, 8 ft high (144 × 96 in) | 144 ÷ 30 = 4.8, so 5 | 108 in | 5 × $120 = $600 |
Prices are before tax, with free US shipping. The nursery wallpaper calculator does the same math for your own wall. For measuring and timing the install before baby arrives, see the nursery wallpaper guide.
When it is time for a change, the panels peel off rather than being stripped. We have not published our own removal tests, so test a sample on your paint before you commit to a full wall. The removal guide covers what affects it.
5. Start with a $15 sample.
Grays and whites change more than you would expect between a sunny afternoon and a dim night feed, and the size of the stars is hard to judge on a screen. Order a sample of each finalist from our samples page, or straight from a design: Stars sample, Moon and bunny nursery sample, Watercolor solar system sample or Clouds sample. Each is $15 with free US shipping.

Questions
What wallpaper works for a stars and moon nursery?
Stars is the quietest: small gray stars scattered across white. Moon and bunny nursery puts rabbits on crescent moons among stars in soft gray and white, and Watercolor solar system brings in smiling planets on warm gray. Clouds, Neutral Nursery Cloud, Bunny nursery and Vintage Air Balloons sit well beside them.
Which star wallpaper works for both a nursery and a big-kid room?
Stars. It is calm enough for a crib wall and reads as a light texture in an older child's bedroom, so it can stay when the rest of the room changes.
Can I pair a star wall with clouds?
Yes. Stars and Clouds share a soft gray and white palette, so one can go on the crib wall and the other in a reading nook or on a neighboring wall. Order a sample of each to check them side by side.
How many panels does a star accent wall take?
Divide the wall width in inches by 30 and round up. A 9-foot wall on an 8-foot ceiling takes four 108-inch panels at $120 each, $480 for our kids' designs. A 12-foot wall takes five, $600.
