Girl nursery wallpaper ideas

For a girl's nursery, start with soft florals and blush (Pink boho, Scandinavian floral nursery), gentle rabbits (Bunny nursery, Moon and bunny nursery) or light rainbows and clouds (Neutral rainbow, Clouds, Neutral Nursery Cloud, Vintage Air Balloons). None of them is only for girls; they work for any baby. A 10-foot accent wall on an 8-foot ceiling takes four 108-inch panels, $480 for our kids' designs. Order a $15 sample of each finalist first.

1. Start with the palette, not the label.

Most searches for a girl’s nursery are really searches for a feeling: soft, light and a little sweet. That comes from the palette and the motif more than from pink. A blush wall is one way to get there; white florals, gray bunnies and beige rainbows are others.

  • Look at what is staying. The crib, the rug and the curtains set the palette. Warm wood suits blush and beige; white furniture suits gray and white.
  • Paper one wall. Usually the crib wall, the one you see from the doorway. The other walls stay plain.
  • Think past the first year. A soft repeat on a light ground carries into the toddler years with a change of bedding.

Every design here works for any baby, girl or boy. All of them come from our kids’ collections.

2. Soft florals and blush.

Florals are the most searched starting point, and they range from a full blush ground to a few line drawings on white. More soft florals are on our floral nursery wallpaper page, and the floral nursery guide plans the wall.

  • Pink boho: white botanical line drawings on a soft blush-pink ground. The pinkest pick here, and it sits well next to natural wood.
  • Scandinavian floral nursery: small black line-drawn flowers and stems spaced across white. Florals without any pink, for a room with white furniture or a colorful rug.

For more palettes in the same spirit, see our boho nursery guide.

3. Bunnies and moons.

Rabbits are a storybook favorite for a baby’s room, and these two keep them in black, gray and white, so the wall stays calm. Both are on our woodland and bunny nursery wallpaper page, and the bunny nursery guide goes deeper.

  • Bunny nursery: black-and-white woodland rabbits with small botanical motifs. A crisp pick that pairs with pink bedding as easily as gray.
  • Moon and bunny nursery: rabbits resting on crescent moons with stars, in soft gray and white. It suits the wall behind the crib and the bedtime feed. Our star and moon nursery wallpaper page has more like it.

4. Rainbows, clouds and balloons.

For a light, airy wall with a little more to look at from the changing table:

  • Neutral rainbow: quiet beige rainbows with small hearts and clouds. The rainbow most people picture for a nursery, in warm neutrals rather than brights.
  • Clouds: rounded white clouds drifting across a soft gray ground, for a cool room.
  • Neutral Nursery Cloud: watercolor clouds in warm beige and olive tones, for a room with wood furniture.
  • Vintage Air Balloons: watercolor hot air balloons drifting among clouds in soft pink and beige. A touch of pink without a pink wall.

Choosing for a baby whose sex you don’t know yet, or would rather not design around? Our gender-neutral nursery guide sorts designs by palette instead, and the pink nursery guide helps you choose between blush, dusty rose and brighter pinks. The boy nursery guide covers safari, woodland and space.

5. Plan the wall and the panels.

Every kids’ design comes in 30-inch-wide panels in nine heights, priced $90 to $180 per panel. Divide the wall width by 30 and round up for the panel count. Add 4 inches to the wall height for trim and alignment, then choose the shortest panel height that covers it.

6. Start with a $15 sample.

Questions

What wallpaper works in a girl's nursery?

Soft florals, blush and gentle animals are the usual starting points. Pink boho puts white botanical line drawings on a blush-pink ground, Scandinavian floral nursery keeps small black flowers on white, and Bunny nursery and Moon and bunny nursery add rabbits in black, gray and white. Neutral rainbow, Clouds and Neutral Nursery Cloud keep the room light.

Do these designs only work for a girl?

No. Every design here works for any baby. The bunnies, clouds, rainbows and line-drawn florals read as soft rather than pink or blue, and only Pink boho and Vintage Air Balloons use pink at all. Choose by palette and by the furniture already in the room.

How many panels does a nursery accent wall take?

Divide the wall width in inches by 30 and round up. A 10-foot wall on an 8-foot ceiling takes four 108-inch panels at $120 each, $480 for our kids' designs. An 11-foot wall on a 9-foot ceiling takes five 120-inch panels, $625.
